About
Hello! Welcome to Microcosdom1, my personal little enclosure within the internet. I’m not exactly sure what the scope of this website will be yet, but I’m very fond of personal websites, the indie/small web movement, and generally avoiding mainstream corpo slop. I’m mostly using that ironically, but I am an anarchist.
Maya
Hello, I’m Maya!
I am a 22 year old T-Girl (Any/All) with ADHD who studied Engineering & Computer Science. I play a lot of video games, board games, and DnD. I’m interested in old tech and am generally quite particular, especially about computers. I may or may not be Austic/OCD, but that’s just headcannon. Totally not a stereotype.
A major part of my self-concept is centered around my politics. I am an Anarchist who generally believes in empathy, providing for others, kindness, etc.. “From each according to [their] ability, to each according to [their] needs” that kind of thing.
Between my proclivity to rewatch things, excessively, the joy I get from experiencing art, and how much I love sharing, much of my character is a crass homunculus2 constructed out of the art of others. To that end, the best picture I could paint of myself is recommending art I like.
I’m certain this will be expanded overtime, for now I’m just trying my best to imprimate this website. So for the time being, please excuse the very impressionist portrait I’ve painted.
Microcosdom
The term Microcosdom, a silly little portmanteau of Microcosm and Kingdom I coined, can actually refer to a couple of things.
The Word
The most common way I use Microcosdom, at the moment, is as the primary name given to any personal thing I’m working on. The platonic ideal of a Microcosdom use case would be my survival world in the hit video game Minecraft. It’s something, that will likely never be seen by others, that requires a name. It’s a little small world, I’m obsessed with medieval themes, ba-da bing ba-da boom we got a Microcosdom. More specifically, it stands as a name for my personal “default” experience with something. There are countless examples of this: my main Rimworld Colony, my Factorio save file, etc.. As a counter example, my creative building world in Minecraft, isn’t called Microcosdom, that would be the “The Grand Design”3. This isn’t the only way I use Microcosdom, an alternative use case, to continue using Minecraft, is my personal texture/mod packs are typically called Microcosdom as well.
I can’t say I particularly have a stalwart rhyme and reason for how I use the word, more so it’s just a silly moniker I came up with and have never had a reason to share with others until now.
The Website
Microcosdom the website is where you are now, my own little nook stashed away in cyberspace! Wowie!
It is being hosted on my perfect baby boy “otter”. Here is a picture of him:

Microcosdom is being served with Zola a Static Site Generator written in Rust. Essentially, it takes my various Markdown, a format for formatting text with plain text characters, files, html templates, and CSS to serve a very lean website. I’m extremely happy with how it has turned out so far.
If you’re curious, at any given time, the website directory looks something like this:

For now, that’s where I’m going to leave this about page. I absolutely have a lot more to say, but I would absolutely love to get this out into the world ASAP.
Thank you for reading.
