Lying on the Floor
“I’m going to set myself the goal of writing a blog post every week. Hopefully, by putting this declaration on the walls of my enclosure, I’ll hold myself to it. “
— Maya on September 26th in her blog titled What Now?
That didn’t age well did it?
Might as well put this whole post in slashed text.
Surprising no one ever, my plan did not exactly unfold as I intended. In true Maya fashion, a self-imposed deadline morphed into a terrifying source of self-loathing and unfufillment.
The first week was a desperate clawing for motivation and ideas. I procrastinated until Friday, and then was overwhelmed and unable to finish anything. After the first week, I told myself I would make two blog posts to make up for it, a tale as old as time. Cut to October 10th, the day I finally started a blog post on the easiest topic I could think of, Dungeons and Dragons.
As of today, it is December 18th and the Dungeons and Dragons blog, created to fulfill a 2 month passed deadline, has ballooned into a blog post, project page, and file repository spanning over 7000 words. Of course it has. Hopefully, I will finish it in a reasonable timeframe, we’ll see.
I’ll never forgive myself if this website becomes a self-pitying ADHD blog, so this will likely be my last on post on the topic for some time.
In the meantime, I’ve added a guestbook, go and sign it.
